It's no fun to be sick

Wesley started having a fever on Thursday evening.  Raymond had his company D&D while I had a promotion treat dinner at Shangri-La The Line on the same evening.  We did not rush back to bring him to doc as my brother said his fever was not that high.  When we fetched him home that night, he looked tired but not that feverish.  I gave him paracetemol and he slept throughout the night.  Decided that he would not attend school on Friday.  He missed the National Day celeb at school though.  He appeared ok on Friday but by evening, his fever shot up to more than 39 degrees.  Quickly brought him to doc and this time round, he was given antibiotics as his throat was very red.
That night, at around midnight, he suddenly woke up from his sleep and said /do things that does not quite like him.  He told my husband, " you sleep on the bed, I sleep on the floor".  He then rushed to my bed and said " I sleep here, you (ie me) sleep next to me and papa sleep on my bed".  He seemed to be very anxious and we tried very hard to calm him down.  We were not sure if he had a nightmare but this happened again 2 hours later.  According to my husband, he was feverishly writing numbers on the bed.  The next day in the afternoon, he again woke up from his sleep and asked for a paper and pen.  He wrote some numbers and asked me" what is 4 divide by 3?"  I had to calm him down again before he fell asleep.  These incidences really scared me and my husband.  Is it due to the fever that made him delirious or stress?  I even wondered if it was a side effect of the medicine although these are common medicine which he has taken before.
He's ok now and even attended a Wii party at his friend's house yesterday.  I sure hope this is a one-off thing.
Haiz, Wes' bug is now passed to Sophia and she is having fever.  I hope she recovers soon.

My son's first CA

Wesley will be having his first CA this month.  For his school, there is no CA up to P3.  Even at P4, there is no CA during the first half of the year.  I just got hold of the timetable and the topics that will be tested.  For CL, his Achilles' heel, he will be tested on chapters 11-16.  Not sure if there is enough time as the teacher has just started teaching chapter 15 and the paper is only 2 weeks away.   It seems that the school is trying to cover as much as possible for this CA.  For Maths and Science, they are tested on topics taught to-date.  Yes, including 4A topics.  It looks like i will have to treat it like a SA and do intensive coaching these 2 weeks.  Lucikily, due to YOG, the Maths and Science papers have been postponed till end of Aug.

For the YOG, the school will be sending some pupils to watch certain games - table-tennis, badminton, gymnastics.  Selection is based on balloting which i thought is fair as everyone gets a chance, depending on how lucky the pupil is.  I certainly hope Wesley will be selected as it's once in a lifetime opportunity to witness world class young athletes in action.  Let's see how lucky he is.

My first entry

Today is 1 August 2010.  It is also the day of my maiden entry.  I hope to share snippets of my life with a focus on my kids, Wesley and Sophia.  They're definitely the centre of my life.  Lots of tears and frustrations but i can't imagine life without them.  Yeah, life will be very lonely without them.   They have also brought me lots of joy and pride.  Gtg, haiz, need to iron their uniforms.  I really hate ironing esp my girl's skirt which is full of pleats.   I really like some schools' uniform which are wrinkle-free, easy to wash and NO IRONING needed.  Hmm, maybe i should write to the school.
